ISO 22000 Guidance and IRCA Lead Auditor Training

ISO 22000 is a non-sector specific food safety standard which is aimed at all organisations from ‘farm to fork’, regardless of size or sector.

The 2018 version combines the following generally recognised key elements for an effective food safety management system: interactive communication, systems management, Prerequisite Programmes (PRPs) and the principles of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).

The ISO 22000 standard also makes up the bulk of the FSSC 22000 scheme which adds sector specific PRP’s and other GFSI requirements such as food fraud and food defence.

For those who need to develop a more in-depth understanding of the ISO 22000 standard, a new handbook to accompany ISO 22000 has just been published jointly by ISO and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.

The new handbook ISO 22000:2018 – Food safety management systems – A practical guide provides in-depth and practical information to help organisations more effectively implement a food safety management system (FSMS) in accordance with ISO 22000:2018.

This new handbook is designed to help the food sector better prepare for implementing a FSMS according to ISO 22000:2018 requirements by guiding them through the various tasks, thus making the process smoother and more effective.

It is available for purchase as a licensed pdf from the ISO Store www.iso.org/publication/PUB100454.html

Our intensive, challenging and highly interactive CQI and IRCA Certified training program is for those people who require an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills required to perform first, second and third-party audits of Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) against ISO 22000 AND ISO 22000 based standards.

The course includes the structure and interpretation of ISO 22000, the relationship between ISO 22000, the ISO 22002 series of pre-requisite standards and the additional requirements to meet GFSI recognised certification are included in our course.

Many of the audit skills acquired on this course can be applied to auditing other Food Safety Management Systems.

Delegates on previous courses have been from a wide range of food sectors including farming, manufacturing, catering and storage & distribution. Job roles have varied enormously and have included company directors, technical & quality managers, supply chain, development, production, third party certification auditors and local authority food safety enforcement staff.
